3 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. Hosmer's long ball came in the sixth frame amidst a 15-5 blowout loss. Through 314 plate appearances, the 31-year-old carries a .260/.316/.368 with seven homers, four steals and 69 runs-plus-RBI. Excluding a brilliant April, Hosmer's offensive contributions have been minimal and limited to singles, having collected just nine extra-base hits since May 1. Although his expected batting average supports a solid floor, the counting stats and power are certainly lacking fantasy appeal at the first base position. He's a hold only in deeper and NL-only formats.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
