Eric Hosmer Shut Down With Back Pain

2 years agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Eric Hosmer (back) has been shut down with lingering back pain. Hosmer went on the injured list with lower back inflammation just over a week ago, and now it's looking like he might miss the rest of the 2022 season. There's no timetable for when the 32-year-old left-handed hitter will resume baseball activities. If you are in need of a roster spot in deeper fantasy leagues, it's probably safe to drop Hosmer at this point. In 12 games since being acquired from the San Diego Padres at the Aug. 2 trade deadline, Hosmer has gone just 9-for-40 (.225) with no home runs, four RBI and six runs scored. Franchy Cordero and Bobby Dalbec will continue splitting playing time at first base with Hosmer sidelined.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
