6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer (rest) will not play on Monday against the Texas Rangers. Hosmer will go up against lefty Cole Hamels, who he is 0-for-13 against in his career. Hosmer has been struggling as of late and also is only hitting .215 against lefties this season, so this is almost certainly a matchup move and allows for Hosmer to get his mind straight. He should be benched Monday and re-inserted back in the lineup for Tuesday.--Caden Inaba
