Eric Lauer Could Start for Padres on Thursday
7 years agoWith the San Diego Padres sending starting pitcher Luis Perdomo to Triple-A, the team is in need of a starter for their Thursday game against the Rockies. According to MLB.com's AJ Cassavell, that starter could be prospect Eric Lauer. Lauer is considered one of the best pitching prospects in San Diego's farm system and has proved why in 2018. Over three starts, he has pitched to a 2-1 record with a 3.00 ERA and a 19/6 K/BB ratio. As the Padres continue to rebuild, calling Lauer up would give them an opportunity to see where he fits in their future. If he were to start Thursday, it would come at Coors Field, making him a shaky streaming option. However, as we've seen with teammate Joey Lucchesi, there's a chance Lauer could break out, meaning you should keep your eye on him if/when he gets recalled.
