Eric Lauer Escapes With Second Victory
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Eric Lauer allowed five earned runs in six innings but salvaged his second victory Monday against the San Francisco Giants. Lauer’s eight strikeouts were a season high but he became undone in a five-run fourth inning. Despite relinquishing four hits and three walks, the Padres offense gifted him a win by mounting a furious comeback. Lauer now holds a 4.76 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 6.9 K/9 through 17 innings this season. After a brilliant opening start, Lauer has scuffled in his last couple outings and fallen off the fantasy radar. He’ll get the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. The D-Backs knocked Lauer around for nine hits and four earned runs on April 2 and he holds a career 2.76 ERA and 1.65 WHIP against Arizona in 16 1/3 frames.
