Eric Lauer Unable To Build Off Opening Day Gem
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Eric Lauer took the loss after surrendering four earned runs in five innings Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unable to build off a brilliant Opening Day performance, Lauer allowed nine hits, a walk and fanned two on the evening. Lauer lacks overpowering stuff and if he’s not commanding his pitches on any given start, he’s at risk of being hit hard. He’ll carry a 3.27 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 4.1 K/9 into next week’s start against the San Francisco Giants. Including his Opening Day gem, Lauer holds a career 2.86 ERA in four starts versus the Giants. He’ll be on the streamer radar in that contest.
