Eric Thames Going On DL With Torn Thumb Ligament
7 years agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Eric Thames (thumb) will be placed on the disabled list after an MRI exam showed a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. It's a serious injury that will require surgery and keep the slugging left-hander out for at least two months. Pitcher Brandon Woodruff was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move. It's a tough blow for the Brewers and fantasy owners, as Thames was hitting .250 with a team-leading seven home runs and 13 RBI in 64 at-bats. Jesus Aguilar figures to see a lot more playing time at first base now, and he'll become relevant in mixed leagues. Outfielder Ryan Braun could also see more starts at first.
