Erik Jones Proves Qualifying Was No Fluke At Fontana
3 years agoErik Jones qualified second for the Wise Power 400 and little was expected. He was a long shot but there projected to be longer runs. That did not quite work out on Sunday as Fontana featured 12 cautions and 32 lead changes. The result allowed Jones to creep closer and closer as the last restart approached. In the final laps, Jones charged all the way up to third and nearly got past Austin Dillon for second. His car was lightning quick at the end. His 42.29 last lap was one of the fastest during the race. The No. 43 Chevy looks like one to watch again on these intermediate tracks with this result.
