6 years agoJoe Gibbs Racing driver Erik Jones turned in an average speed of 179.261 mph on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, fifth among all drivers in Best 10 Consecutive Lap Average in Laps 2-11. Jones has three Cup starts under his belt on the Charlotte tri-oval, posting a seventh-place finish in his Cup debut at the track in the Coca-Cola 600 in 2017, 17th in the fall race and 19th in the spring 2018 run. The JGR driver will be searching for his third consecutive top-10 Cup finish. He tied a season best with a third-place showing at Kansas last time out. Jones is set to start from the 16th position on Sunday.--Daniel Dobish
