Erik Swanson Notches First Save Friday
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Erik Swanson got his first save of the year Friday night against the Rangers, a four-out endeavor in which he twice worked out of two-out two-on jams. Swanson, who has been excellent this season with a 0.69 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 13 innings, is the latest pitcher to throw his hat into the ring for the closing job in Seattle. With Kendall Graveman still out, this looks to be a committee approach from manager Scott Servais. It's anyone's guess who will get the next opportunity between Rafael Montero, Keynan Middleton, Erik Swanson, or someone else, making it hard to roster any of these options.
