Ervin Santana Has Surgery, Out 10-12 Weeks
7 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Ervin Santana (finger) underwent surgery on the middle finger of his right hand and will be out 10 to 12 weeks from Tuesday. This will obviously put a serious dent in Santana's fantasy value, as he will now miss the start of the regular season. The veteran right-hander was an All-Star in 2017 by posting a 3.27 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 167 strikeouts in 211 innings while also winning 16 games for the Twins. A fortunate BABIP and strand rate helped keep his ERA down, but he's at serious risk of regression in 2018 if he keeps allowing too many fly balls, even in a pitcher-friendly park.
