Ervin Santana Struggles With Command In Rehab Start
6 years agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Ervin Santana (finger) made his second rehab start at Class-A on Tuesday. The veteran pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three. He threw 59 pitches in the outing, hit one batter and threw a wild pitch while his fastball sat around 88-89 mph. The wildness is a bit of a concern, but he is understandably rusty after having finger surgery back in February. Santana has now made two rehab starts, as he took the mound last Wednesday for Minnesota's Double-A affiliate. He is expected to need at least a few more rehab starts before he is ready to join the big league staff. A mid-June return is probably the best-case scenario for him.
