Eugenio Suarez Fractures Thumb Sunday
7 years agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez has fractured his right thumb. Suarez left during the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after getting hit by a pitch thrown by Jameson Taillon. Suarez will assuredly be placed on the disabled list and the team has not offered a timetable for his recovery, although it will likely be at least a month and probably longer. Suarez was replaced in the game by Cliff Pennington. Meanwhile, in Triple-A, the team removed Alex Blandino from the game shortly after the injury. While nothing is official, Blandino is already on the Reds' 40-man roster and would be a logical option to replace Suarez at the big league level.
