3 years agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez continued his season-long struggles at the plate on Wednesday, as he finished 0-for-3 with three strikeouts in a 7-0 loss to the Mets. Suarez has not been able to figure things out at the plate this season as he is slashing just.172/.255/.362 over 92 games, however he has managed to also hit 18 home runs with 52 RBI and 44 runs scored. So despite the poor triple-slash line, he's still a guy that should be rostered in the majority of formats. His Statcast metrics do suggest that he has gotten somewhat unlucky at the plate with a .209 xBA and .425 xSLG, however the bigger issues right now appear to be his career-worst 30.1 percent strikeout rate and a 35.1 percent hard-hit rate that is his worst mark since 2017. As long as he continues to put up the counting numbers he has, Suarez needs to be rostered and managers should hope for a second-half turnaround with his average.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
