3 years agoSan Francisco Giants manager Gabe Kapler said that the expectation is third baseman Evan Longoria (finger) will miss six weeks after having surgery on his right index finger. Longoria's finger will be immobilized for at least 10 days before he resumes baseball activities after he went under the knife on Tuesday. Wilmer Flores, Thairo Estrada and Tommy La Stella could fill in at the hot corner until Longoria returns around mid-May, with Flores the likely candidate to see the most playing time at third. The 36-year-old Longoria has reached the 20-homer mark just once in his four years with the Giants and had just 13 homers and 46 RBI in 81 games in 2021. With this injury news, he'll begin the year on the waiver wire in shallow mixed leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
