Evan Longoria To Make Season Debut Wednesday
3 years agoThe San Francisco Giants plan to activate third baseman Evan Longoria (finger) from the injured list and return him to their starting lineup for his season debut on Wednesday against Colorado Rockies right-hander Chad Kuhl. Longoria needed surgery on his finger in late March, but he's finally ready to make his season debut. The 36-year-old veteran third baseman played in five minor league rehab games for Triple-A Sacramento, going 5-for-18 with no home runs or RBI. Longoria is no longer in the prime of his career and is injury prone, but he can contribute as a corner infielder in deep mixed leagues after slashing .261/.351/.482 with 13 home runs, 46 RBI and 45 runs scored in just 81 games for San Francisco in 2021.
