Falcons Push Back Decision On Matt Ryan
3 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons and quarterback Matt Ryan agreed to push back the $7.5 million roster bonus due to Ryan from Friday to next Tuesday, giving Ryan four extra days to vet his trade options, according to sources. The Falcons are a finalist to land Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, with some saying that Atlanta is the favorite over the New Orleans Saints. The Falcons would take on a big dead-cap hit if they trade or release the veteran quarterback, but landing a franchise signal-caller in Watson would be worth it to them. Once considered a steady QB1 in fantasy, Ryan threw for only 3,968 yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2021. Leaving Atlanta and going elsewhere could actually reinvigorate his fantasy appeal.
