Falcons Release Dante Fowler Wednesday
3 years agoThe Atlanta Falcons released linebacker Dante Fowler on Wednesday. His 2022 season was voided after his last restructure, so he'll become a free agent before the new league year begins. The 27-year-old signed a three-year, $48 million deal in March of 2020, but he later took a pay cut for last season. Fowler will now have the advantage of being able to sign with any team before free agency actually begins. The third overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015 had 7.5 sacks, 33 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits and four forced fumbles in 28 games (19 starts) in his two seasons with the Falcons the last two years. His best season came in 2019 in his final year with the Los Angeles Rams, when he recorded a career-best 11.5 sacks in 16 games.
