Felipe Vazquez Earns Fifth Save of Season
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez notched his fifth save of the year with a perfect ninth inning against the Miami Marlins on Saturday. The southpaw has converted all of his save opportunities on the season and hasn't allowed a run outside of his Opening Day blowup. Vazquez hasn't recorded a strikeout over his last two appearances and his K rate (27.6 percent) is slightly down in the early going, but the punchouts will come. His swinging-strike rate of 19.5 percent currently ranks 10th among all relievers.
