7 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Felix Hernandez (forearm) took positive steps playing long toss off flat ground for consecutive days, per mlb.com. There is no timetable for his return after taking a line drive off of his forearm in his first Cactus League outing of the spring but is making progress. This type of freak injury should not be something that lingers once Hernandez is fully healed, but he is certainly behind schedule for Opening Day right now. Hernandez is looking to have a bounce-back season as the veteran continues to climb in age. The next step is to throw off the mound and begin some bullpen sessions in hopes of getting back on the field before spring training is over. He is a bit of a long shot, as of now, to play in the first week or so of the season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
