Fernando Tatis Jr. Flashes Power And Speed Over Weekend Series
4 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI Sunday against the San Francisco Giants. Tatis launched a mammoth 454-foot blast off Giants starter Johnny Cueto in the second frame for his ninth long ball of the season. He finishes the three-game series with four hits in 13 at-bats with two stolen bases. The 22-year-old has been feast or famine at the dish, slashing .240/.315/.552 in 108 plate appearances with a 26 percent strikeout rate and 12 of his 23 hits of the extra-base variety. But with the power and seven steals to accompany 39 runs-plus-RBI, he continues to possess the dazzling power/speed combination fantasy managers crave. Up next is a three-game set against the Colorado Rockies at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
