Fernando Tatis Jr. Gets Day Off Wednesday
4 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. is not among the club’s starting nine for Wednesday’s contest versus the Angels and right-hander Jaime Barria. For the first time in his career, Jake Cronenworth is batting in the No. 2 spot in the order, as he shifts over to short to step in for Tatis. Despite a breakout 2020 campaign, Tatis has scuffled as of late with a .472 OPS over his last seven games, last having homered Sept. 6. He is likely to return to the lineup Friday during a doubleheader against San Francisco.
