Fernando Tatis Jr. Goes Hitless In First Rehab Game
2 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (wrist) kicked off his minor league rehab assignment on Saturday with Double-A San Antonio by going 0-for-2 with two walks and a strikeout as the designated hitter and leadoff batter. Tatis is finally playing in live games for the first time since having surgery to fix a broken wrist in March, but the Padres won't rush him back to the major league lineup until he's ready. Barring a setback on his rehab assignment, the 23-year-old Dominican should return around mid-August, and he has the potential to be a difference-maker for fantasy managers the rest of the way. Tatis hit .282/.364/.611 with a .975 OPS, a league-leading 42 home runs, 97 RBI, 99 runs scored and 25 stolen bases in 130 games last year.
