Fernando Tatis Jr. Keeps Paying Dividends
4 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. launched his third homer Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, finishing 1-for-3 with a solo shot and walk. The 21-year-old showed his power to all fields, pummeling a Walker Buehler pitch into the opposite stands in the fifth inning. Amidst the fantasy hype this offseason, Tatis has shown he’s the real deal, slashing .279/.392/.605 with 19 runs-plus-RBI, three dingers and three steals in 51 plate appearances. While his 35 percent strikeout rate and .409 BABIP show signs of excess, Tatis has doubled his walk rate to 16 percent with an astonishing 68 percent hard contact rate. So far, he’s been the price of admission.
