Fernando Tatis Jr. Leads Epic Comeback Over Dodgers
4 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. had a fantasy manager's dream performance Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, reaching base four times with a solo home run, four runs scored and two steals in six plate appearances. Before the Friars mounted an epic six-run comeback, Tatis went yard off Dodgers starter Dustin May in the fourth frame for his fifth dinger in three games. He was ultimately the game-winning run in the 11th inning after swiping third and scoring on a sacrifice fly. Entering the four-game series against the Blue Crew with a .600 OPS, Tatis emerges with a spectacular .246/.338/.632 slash after collecting eight hits including the aforementioned five homers. El Niño is now tied for the major league lead with seven long balls to accompany four steals and 24 runs-plus-RBI in 65 plate appearances. After returning from a scary shoulder injury, things have clicked for the 22-year-old and he's once again one of baseball's most exciting talents. The window to buy low has come and gone.
