Fernando Tatis Jr. May Undergo Shoulder Surgery In Offseason
3 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop/outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. is considering surgery to repair a labrum tear in his left shoulder, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune. The ailment kept him sidelined from July 31 until August 15. It was first reported that Tatis Jr. would not undergo surgery, but it now remains a possibility. If he does have the procedure, it would likely keep him out until next March, meaning he could be available to start next season. Tatis Jr. is having an MVP-type season, slashing .278/.366/.631 with 37 HRs and 24 SBs. Since returning from the injured list, he's hitting just .225 with six home runs and one stolen base in 18 games but remains a top player in every format.
