Fernando Tatis Jr. Moving Closer To Rehab Assignment
2 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (wrist) took on-field batting practice over the weekend at Citi Field and will do a couple of live batting practice sessions before beginning a minor league rehab assignment. The "live" sessions aren't expected to take place until the team returns to San Diego following its upcoming three-game series in Detroit against the Tigers. It means that Tatis probably won't begin a rehab assignment until early next week, and the Padres could slow down his progression at any point. But if he doesn't have any setbacks with his surgically repaired left wrist, it's possible that Tatis could make his season debut when the Padres are in Los Angeles against the division-rival Dodgers from Aug. 5-7.
