Fernando Tatis Jr.'s Late Heroics Not Enough For Sliding Friars
3 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop/outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-7 with four strikeouts but crushed a game-tying extra-inning home run in Wednesday's 16-inning loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. El Niño's two-run bomb in the 15th frame sent the contest into one more set before the Friars finally faltered 5-3. Despite the late heroics, Tatis is just 8-for-37 (.216 average) since returning from the IL on August 15 but does have four long balls. The 22-year-old star remains one of fantasy's most valuable players, slashing .284/.366/.648 with 35 homers, 24 steals and 163 runs-plus-RBI in 404 plate appearances. If he can manage his chronic shoulder issue, Tatis should continue leading fantasy squads into the final run.
