Fernando Tatis Jr. Tops Exit Velocity Leaderboard
4 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. kept rolling Wednesday, going 2-for-4 with a solo homer, steal and two runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tatis smashed a 414-foot blast against starter Ross Stripling in the fifth inning for his fourth long ball. The 21-year-old has exceeded lofty expectations through 60 plate appearances, slashing .294/.400/.647 with four steals and 24 runs-plus-RBI to complement the homers. He leads all qualified batters with a 97.7 MPH average exit velocity. A controversial fantasy selection in the second round, Tatis is on pace to becoming a top-12 pick in 2021. The Friars are off Thursday before hosting a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
