Doug Fister Throws Five Strong Innings in Win
7 years agoTexas Rangers starter Doug Fister threw five innings of one-run ball in the Rangers first win of the season. That he was so effective against the vaunted Houston Astros lineup is not insignificant. Fister went from unheralded free agent to the Rangers No. 2 starter thanks to injury and lack of talent in the rotation, and his first go was quite effective. He scattered four hits and three walks while striking out three and got through his five innings with just 77 pitches. Fister's spot in the rotation is likely secure going forward, and he may be worth an add, especially in deeper leagues or for teams desperate for starters.
