4 years agoHouston Astros right-handed pitcher Forrest Whitley -- the club’s No. 1 prospect -- has been shut down at the team’s alternate training site as he deals with discomfort in his throwing arm. Injuries have changed the landscape for Houston in 2020, as Justin Verlander, Jose Urquidy, and Chris Devenski are just three of the notable names to already land on the IL. Whitley is heralded as a prized jewel prospect that has dominated the Arizona Fall League over the past two years, combining for 68 strikeouts in 51 innings. A potential call up appeared likely in 2020 should Houston have continued on its current trajectory, but the arm injury will stunt that progress. There is still likely incentive on nabbing Whitley in keepers formats, but owners will have to be patient as it pertains to when he joins the big league staff.--Jesse Borek
