Fractured Hand For Kevin Plawecki
7 years agoInitial X-rays may have come back negative on the left hand of New York Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki, but further testing has revealed it is indeed fractured. It’s a very tough break for Plawecki after he was expected to be the primary catcher when Travis d’Arnaud (elbow) went down with a partially torn UCL. At this point, we don’t know how long Plawecki will be out for, but it certainly sounds as though it will be some time. The recently-recalled Tomas Nido will catch for now, but the team is expected to call up Jose Lobaton from Triple-A. They could also look to make a trade somewhere, but it’s hard to pull off meaningful deals in April.
