Framber Valdez, Jake Odorizzi To Be Activated This Weekend
3 years agoHouston Astros starting pitchers Framber Valdez (finger) and Jake Odorizzi (forearm) are expected to be activated from the injured list and pitch this weekend, according to Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle. Valdez fractured the ring finger on his throwing hand back in Spring Training, and was originally believed to have suffered a season-ending injury. Meanwhile, Odorizzi has been out since late April after suffering a forearm strain. In their most recent rehab outings at Triple-A, Valdez struck out two over four scoreless innings while Odorizzi had seven strikeouts in 4 2/3 scoreless innings of work. Valdez is now the scheduled starter on Friday against the Padres, with Odorizzi set to take the mound on Saturday. Managers should make sure to slot both Valdez and Odorizzi into their lineups as soon as they are activated.
