6 years agoHouston Astros starter Framber Valdez has enjoyed a solid spring training as he prepares to be a part of the rotation in 2019. Valdez was called up mid-season last year and performed admirably, going 4-1 with a 2.19 in eight games, five of those appearances being starts. The 25-year-old allowed only 22 hits in 37 innings last season and now will get every opportunity to become a mainstay on the Astros starting staff. The left-hander did an excellent job of getting hitters out from both sides of the plate last season, as evidenced by limiting right-handed hitters to hit only .191 against him. Valdez should not be drafted onto fantasy rosters right out of the gate but could become a player to watch as the season develops pitching for a team with a high-powered offense.--Joey C - RotoBaller
