Framber Valdez Has Been Solid After Late Start
3 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez, who beat Cleveland on Thursday, is up to a 5-1 record with a 2.18 ERA and 1.04 WHIP on the season and has been rewarding patient fantasy managers after getting a late start at the end of May because of a finger injury. With 41 strikeouts over 45 1/3 innings, Valdez isn't a huge source of strikeouts, however. The 27-year-old left-hander limited the Indians to two runs over seven innings while striking out seven in his last start. Valdez matches up next Wednesday against Sean Manaea and the division-rival Oakland Athletics in Houston, making him a solid option to start for the week.
