3 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez struck out seven batters on Thursday as his club fell to the Yankees 7-6. The left-hander allowed three runs on two hits and three walks over six innings of work, and was in line for the win until the Bronx Bombers stormed back for four runs in the ninth. All of the damage he allowed came off a Giancarlo Stanton three-run homer in the bottom of the first, but Valdez settled down after that by retiring 14 straight batters at one point. He'll take an admirable 2.90 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his next start on the road versus the Mets next week.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
