5 years agoIt is increasingly likely that San Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero will be part of a platoon in 2020. Even if Cordero outperforms projected starting center fielder Trent Grisham in spring training, MLB.com’s AJ Cassavell still believes he won’t play every day. The 25-year-old lefty owns a career .573 OPS against southpaws, paving the possibility for a timeshare with Wil Myers or Juan Lagares. Were Grisham to earn the starting gig in center, Cordero’s role in right field would also be a platoon scenario. Cordero has been ravaged by injuries since 2018, playing in only 49 big league games the past two seasons. If he can capitalize on his upside, Cordero should still garner fantasy buzz as the strong side of an outfield committee in deeper leagues.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
