7 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero is making progress on drawing more walks and striking out less. Since April 28, Cordero has lowered his strikeout rate from 38 percent to 33 percent. Of his 10 total walks, seven have come in the last seven games. Cordero is 13th in the majors with a 94.0 mph average exit velocity and has crushed six homers in 96 plate appearances this season. The newfound patience has boosted his slash line to a respectable .271/.347/.518. Slated for a part-time role this offseason, Cordero is forcing his name into the lineup each day and is batting between third and fifth. Even when outfielder Wil Myers (oblique) returns, Cordero would arguably be the second man on the outfield depth chart. At the least, he should see regular at-bats against right-handed pitching (.920 OPS). If he continues the healthy BB/K trends, Cordero could become a palatable points-league candidate.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
