Franchy Cordero Shut Down From Rehab Assignment
7 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Franchy Cordero (forearm, elbow) was shut down from his recent rehab assignment with an elbow issue. He visited a specialist on Tuesday and an update is forthcoming. Cordero has been on the disabled list with forearm soreness since May 27 and was lifted during an at-bat in a Triple-A rehab game. The severity and nature of the injury is unknown but his return to the majors will certainly be delayed. Prior to being sidelined, Cordero had blasted seven homers with five steals and a .746 OPS in 154 plate appearances. His absence breathes life into outfielder Franmil Reyes, who was the apparent odd man out upon the return of Cordero and outfielder Wil Myers.
