Francisco Alvarez's Value Keeps Rising At High-A
4 years agoNew York Mets catching prospect Francisco Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run on Saturday. Just 19, he continues to show why he's one of the top-ranked catchers in dynasty baseball. He opened the 2021 season in Low-A but hit .417 with a 15-7 BB-K in 15 games to earn a promotion. Since then, he's hitting just .250 with more strikeouts but he's been showing increased power with six of his 12 hits going for extra bases — including three home runs. Alvarez has a 132 wRC+ at the higher level and has been succeeding against much older competition. He's ranked by Rotoballer as the second-best catching prospect in dynasty baseball.
