4 years agoMiami Marlins catcher Francisco Cervelli departed the second leg of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Nationals early, forcing Jorge Alfaro back behind the dish after having caught Game 1. Cervelli has proven to be an adept second catcher for the Marlins, having reeled off an .808 OPS through his first 53 at-bats this season. Entering play Saturday, he had collected a hit in seven of his last eight games. With Alfaro back in the equation, Cervelli holds little season-long intrigue, except potentially in two-catcher formats. An extended absence would likely force Alfaro to see even more playing time than usual.--Jesse Borek
