Francisco Cervelli Exits Early Tuesday
6 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates lifted catcher Francisco Cervelli (neck) early in Tuesday's game versus the Rockies after he took a pitch in his neck area. He had sat in the last four games, giving way to Elias Diaz behind the dish, but the team hadn't announced anything wrong with him health-wise prior to this evening, as they may have given him a mental break. Cervelli was 1-for-2 on the evening but has hit a disastrous .185 this season with one home run. His removal from the game is concerning given his lack of play recently. Look for the Pirates to update his status after the game. Owners in single-catcher leagues can cut bait on the veteran even if he doesn't need an injured list stint.
