6 years agoAs Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli recovers from a concussion that he sustained last month, he hopes to begin a rehab assignment this week before returning to the major league roster over the following weekend. He was cleared a week ago of all symptoms but has yet to begin any baseball workouts. Cervelli was having a poor year before landing on IL batting .193 with one homer, 11 runs, and five RBI in 34 games. Upon his return, everyday playing time won't be guaranteed as Elias Diaz has thrived in his place batting a crisp .285 with 19 RBI. Cervelli has a long concussion history and will be eased into action, making him ignorable in all formats.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
