Francisco Cervelli Slugs First Homer of Season
7 years agoAfter a slow start to the season, Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Francisco Cervelli broke out on Tuesday with three hits, including a three-run home run. The blast came against Chicago Cubs reliever Mike Montgomery in the seventh inning, giving the Pirates an 8-2 lead to break the game open. At a position with little depth, any breakout game from a catcher is sure to garner attention. Cervelli is worth a look in two-catcher, NL-only or on-base percentage leagues, but he doesn't hit for enough power or average to be a big contributor in other formats.
