Francisco Lindor Back In A Funk At The Plate
4 years agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor went 0-for-4 in the Mets 1-0 loss to the Nationals on Friday. Lindor, who had been hot at the plate during the early part of June, is now hitless in his last three games having gone 0-for-11. He is also slashing just .174/.321/.348 over his last seven games with one home run and three RBI. Lindor has had a very inconsistent start to the 2021 campaign with short periods of hot-hitting combined with long slumps at the plate. Just when it appears Lindor is on the verge of finally breaking out, his bat goes cold. His underlying metrics, which include strikeout, whiff, and walk rates in the top 20% of MLB, do suggest better days ahead. Fantasy managers should continue to remain patient with Lindor and keep him active as he can break out at any time. It is just a matter of his breaking out and then, hopefully, maintaining a hot bat consistently without falling into these long, futile hitless periods.
