4 years agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts in the Mets' 6-5 loss to the Cardinals on Monday. Lindor, mired in a season-long slump, is now slashing .163/.284/.209 with just one home run and three RBI over 86 at-bats on the season. Almost implausibly, Lindor is also now hitless in his last 21 ABs. Manager Luis Rojas has indicated that there are no plans to drop the struggling Lindor down in the lineup from his usual position as the second hitter. As mentioned previously, despite the horrible start to the season, Lindor has shown improvement in his overall strikeout rate and walk rate when compared to 2020. Additionally, his hard-hit rate of 40.5% is just a slight tick off of his 2019 hard-hit rate of 41% when he hit 32 HR. This would suggest that Lindor should break out soon. The change in Mets hitting coaches on Monday night to Hugh Quattlebaum and Kevin Howard could also potentially have a positive impact on Lindor, as well as the other Mets batters who are currently struggling. Despite the horrendous start to the 2021 campaign, fantasy managers should keep Lindor active in all formats for when (not if) he eventually breaks out.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
