Francisco Liriano Takes No-Hitter Into Seventh Inning
7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Francisco Liriano put on a dazzling display Sunday against the Mariners, firing eight shutout innings of one-hit baseball while striking out five. The veteran lefty took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Mitch Haniger spoiled that bid. Despite his brilliant effort, the bullpen couldn't protect a two-run lead and Liriano ultimately was left with a no-decision. It's been a year of resurgence for Liriano, who now owns a 3.42 ERA on the year to go with his 3-1 record.
