2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs activated first baseman Frank Schwindel (back) from the injured list on Thursday and placed shortstop Andrelton Simmons (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain in a corresponding move. Simmons' injured list placement is retroactive to July 11. Schwindel will return to a .237/.282/.386 slash line with eight home runs, 33 RBI and 27 runs scored in 228 at-bats, but he's not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the New York Mets. Simmons has played sparingly of late and won't be able to return until the start of the second half of the season on July 22. The glove-first 32-year-old has yet to clear the fences in 2022 and has gone just 13-for-75 (.173) with seven RBI and four stolen bases in 34 games for Chicago.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
