5 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas pitched two scoreless innings in a Spring Training start against the Cubs Monday. Montas hit a batter and allowed a walk, but didn't allow a hit while striking out two. Montas was having a great 2019 before being handed an 80-game PED suspension. He won nine of 16 starts, with a 2.63 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 96 innings. His underlying numbers generally backed up his success with a FIP of 3.00, a ground-ball rate near 50 percent and a healthy 26.1 percent strikeout rate. He's a high upside play going into 2020 but that is baked into his draft cost with his average draft position sitting at 122 overall.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
