6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas allowed three runs - two earned - and seven hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts over six innings in a victory against the Texas Rangers. He threw 70 of his 97 pitches for strikes in the quality start, including first-pitch strikes to 16 of the 27 batters he faced. The A's are now an impressive 10-4 over his past 14 road outings, 5-1 in his past six contests and a perfect 5-0 in his previous five against teams with a winning record. He'll take the ball again Saturday against the visiting Seattle Mariners. He is 3-0 with a 3.54 ERA in five starts at home this season, but he is 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in four games (one start) over 10 1/3 innings against the M's since the start of the 2016 season.--Daniel Dobish
